Make like a local!
Choosing local food and drink tends to be the greenest way to travel. Habit can make us reach for familiar favorites - the coffee we like or a favorite brand of beer - but they’re likely to have racked up some serious air miles to get there.
The hospitality industry often has to import expensive ingredients to satisfy tourists but opting for homegrown alternatives is far more authentic and you’ll be contributing to the local economy too.
Keep it clean!
Toiletries often have chemicals and toxins that can be harmful to the environment when flushed into water ways. So be sure to take your own toiletries, free from as many harmful chemicals as possible, if you’re concerned your accommodation might not provide an environmentally friendly option.
If possible, opt for sun protection products without oxybenzone and octinoxate, these are particularly harmful to marine life, Green People provide a great organic alternative!
Tread gently on the earth with these easy to implement travel tips and hopefully they’ll help us all achieve a cleaner, greener travel consciousness.
There are many fantastic resources online and we get lots of tried and tested recommendations from friends and family too. Keep exploring in order to be the change you want to see in the world!
